Colleen Carlson was born in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada in 1965, and moved to New York in the mid 1980’s pursuing a modeling career. Having traveled the world extensively, she settled in New York full time studying at the School of Visual Arts where she focused on ceramic hand building. Having won the New York/ Tokyo Friendship Ceramic Competition in 2001 and receiving the Madeline Sadine Award, she had her first solo exhibition at the Greenwich House of Pottery in 2002. She has participated in International group shows including Bunkamura Gallery in Tokyo as well as numerous shows in the US. Currently working from her Brooklyn studio she is producing both sculptural and functional hand built work inspired by “form and fashion”.
